Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka has congratulated Kosovo on their victory and great achievements in these 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
After the victory over Sweden, where Xhaka was also one of the scorers, he told Swiss television "SRF" that they have not yet qualified, but they have a 'foot' in the World Cup, as Kosovo needs a 6-0 victory to overtake them in the standings.
"We would like to celebrate qualifying for the World Cup in this match, with the fans today. Of course, we need one more match to achieve it, but we have great respect for Kosovo."
"What Kosovo have achieved in these World Cup qualifiers is simply a miracle. They need to win 6-0, but we shouldn't take it too easy. We are practically one foot in the final stage of the World Cup," he said. Xhaka, meanwhile, will travel with the Swiss national team to Kosovo on Tuesday, for the last challenge in the World Cup qualifiers taking place at "Fadil Vokrri" in Pristina. The only chance for a direct qualification is a miracle if the "Dardans" manage to win at least 6-0 against the "Helvets", said Xhaka.
