Fire in Munich subway, 1,000 fans evacuated before Bayern-PSG match

Around 1,000 fans have been evacuated from a Munich subway after a fire alarm went off during their journey to the Champions League semi-final between Bayern Munich and PSG.

Munich police announced through a post on platform X that the intervention of firefighters at the "Dietlindenstrasse" station necessitated the evacuation of the train, where about 1,000 passengers were on board.

Authorities also reported significant traffic disruptions in the area, while the incident led to the temporary suspension of the U6 line, which is considered one of the main transport links to the Allianz Arena stadium.

According to preliminary information published by the German newspaper "Bild", the fire alarm was suspected to have been caused by an electronic cigarette. As a result, the train was withdrawn from service for safety reasons.

So far, there have been no reports of injuries, while authorities are continuing their investigations to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
