Real Madrid has officially announced the departure of Alvaro Arbeloa from the management of the first team, ending an experience that lasted just over five months.
The news was confirmed by the Madrid club itself through an official statement published on its website, where it thanked the former Spanish defender for his contribution over the years at the club.
" Real Madrid and Alvaro Arbeloa have reached an agreement to end his experience as first-team coach. The club is deeply grateful to Alvaro Arbeloa, who throughout his journey, since his time in our academy, has shown loyalty, dedication and professionalism. He embodies the values of our club. Real Madrid, which will always be his home, wishes Alvaro Arbeloa and his family the best in this new phase of their lives ," the club said in a statement.
Arbeloa's departure has not taken long to fuel speculation, as media outlets close to the club report that Madrid's leaders have already chosen his successor.
According to reports, Jose Mourinho is the coach selected to take charge of the team and only the official announcement about the Portuguese's return to the "Santiago Bernabeu" is awaited.
For Mourinho, it would be a sensational return to Madrid, where he led the team from 2010-2013, winning a championship, a King's Cup and a Spanish Super Cup, while leaving his mark on one of the strongest eras of the rivalry between Real and Barcelona.
