This Tuesday was a crucial day for football in Great Britain, Italy and Turkey. In Nyon, Switzerland, the winners for the organization of Euro 2028 and 2032 were determined.
In both cases, the result was practically certain, since the candidacies were unique. For 2028, England, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Scotland and Wales won, while for 2032, the joint Italy-Turkey one.
Being alone in the competition and certain to receive the organization, in Italy this news is welcome, as there will be several stadiums that will be renovated or built from scratch, something that has been requested for years.
The Italian delegation at UEFA headquarters was led by the Federation President and UEFA Vice-President Gabriele Gravina, as it included General Secretary Marco Brunelli, Euro 2032 project manager Antonio Talarico and the entire team that worked on the file.
For Turkey, with the President of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) Mehmet Büyükekşi, there was General Secretary Kadir Kardaş and Vice President Mustafa Eröğüt.
For the submission of the file to the UEFA Executive, the FIGC had appointed two special Ambassadors. The head of the national team delegation and the record holder for appearances in blue, Gianluigi Buffon, and journalist and TV presenter Ilaria D'Amico. Turkey's ambassador for Euro 2024 will be Volkan Demirel, the former goalkeeper of the Turkish national team (66 appearances between 2004 and 2014).
The UEFA Executive Committee has already decided that Great Britain and Ireland will organize the European 2028, while Euro 2032 will take place in Italy and Turkey.
