The Prime Minister asks SPAK to investigate the sale of 4 hydropower plants, while he himself appointed the former minister linked to this affair to the Bank's Board...
At the meeting of the Presidency and Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party, Edi Rama asked SPAK to investigate the privatization of the 4 hydropower plants Shkopet, Ulëz, Bistrica 1 and Bistrica 2, calling it a criminal act against public assets. But his position contradicts the fact that in 2018 he proposed and supported the appointment of former Minister of Finance Ridvan Bode to the Board of the Bank of Albania, one of the figures linked to this privatization. The case raises questions about the political coherence of the prime minister and the selective use of accusations against opponents, while the bargaining with the old figures of the transition seems to continue in silence.
Prime Minister Edi Rama's hypocrisy regarding his stance on the economic and financial crimes committed by the former government of Sali Berisha was revealed even more uglier at the meeting of the Presidency and Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party.
During his speech, Edi Rama reminded SPAK of the investigation into the sale of 4 HPPs, saying:
If they want to fight corruption, they should take the file of the criminal privatization of the 4 hydroelectric power plants Shkopet, Ulëz, Bistrica 1 and Bistrica 2, these 4 works built by the people, which belonged only to the people, and they gave them to a private company.
Albanians would believe this call by Edi Rama to SPAK as his "concern" for public assets and the punishment of those former government officials who sold them, if this call for justice were not his hypocrisy and duplicity.
We say this because it was Prime Minister Edi Rama himself who appointed former Finance Minister Ridvan Bode as a board member of the Bank of Albania, who, together with Sali Berisha and Ilir Meta, made a deal with the "Kurum" company and almost donated the 4 hydroelectric power plants Shkopet, Ulëz, Bistrica 1 and Bistrica 2.
In December 2018, Edi Rama submitted Ridvan Bode's name for a vote in Parliament, as a proposal of the Socialist Party and the government, where he was mandated for the position of member of the Board of the Bank of Albania.
During the years when the SP was in opposition, Edi Rama swore that he would bring the DP-LSI ministers to justice for theft of public assets and mafia concessions, even using the name of Ridvan Bode as a minister "symbol of corruption and theft."
But Edi Rama created the first governing cabinet in 2013 with Ilir Meta's party, to which he gave 4 ministries and 30% of power at the central and local levels, even keeping former ministers from the PD-LSI government.
Prime Minister Edi Rama, during his 13 years in power, did not report Ridvan Boden for any privatization, theft or PPP affair, not even for the criminal sale of 4 hydroelectric power plants, as he now calls it.
He did not even report Ridvan Boden for the theft of 30 million dollars, through fraud with the fictitious sale of the former "Dajti" Hotel, transferring ownership from the government to the State Bank, but instead appointed him to the Board of the Bank of Albania.
Meanwhile, with Sali Berisha, Prime Minister Edi Rama is continuing his dirty bargaining to dominate politics and power, serving as a political agreement for EU integration reforms and the well-being of the people.
An investigation into the sale of 4 hydroelectric power plants was launched by the Tirana Prosecutor's Office in 2016, but it was decided not to initiate the case due to the lack of a criminal offense, while two years later, Edi Rama appointed former minister Ridvan Bode, who sold them, to the Board of the Bank of Albania.
In fact, Edi Rama is keeping an empty seat on the Bank's Board, not proposing the third member on behalf of the Council of Ministers, because he is still in negotiations with the oligarch and Sali Berisha to give Ridvan Bode a second 5-year mandate./ Pamphlet
