The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has reacted after the Iranian attacks on the territory of the United Arab Emirates, announcing that the situation currently appears calm and there are no reports of injured Albanian citizens.
According to the official announcement, Albanian authorities are in contact with the relevant structures on the ground, while Albanian citizens in the Emirates have been asked to exercise caution and follow the instructions of local authorities.
The ministry also informs that the airspace of the United Arab Emirates has been temporarily closed as a security measure following recent developments.
The Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Abu Dhabi is fully available to Albanian citizens for any need or additional information.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has informed "Report TV" that while Iran is carrying out missile attacks on the United Arab Emirates, there are about 1,500 resident Albanian citizens and the same number of tourists there, but fortunately there are no injuries.
The Foreign Ministry's reaction:
We inform you that the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in the United Arab Emirates is closely following the situation on the ground following the attacks by Iran and is in constant contact with security institutions in Abu Dhabi.
The Embassy informs that the security situation in the UAE is currently calm and under control, as the Emirati armed forces have intercepted and neutralized most of the missile and drone attacks launched by Iran, mainly on military installations and US bases in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. In some cases, as a result of these attacks and interceptions, missile debris has fallen in several residential areas. So far, 3 citizens have lost their lives, while 50 citizens have been injured. Fortunately, no Albanian citizens have been injured.
It is estimated that there are around 1,500 Albanian citizens residing in the Emirates and the same number of tourists, who enter without a visa regime and without being required to register with the Embassy during their trip. The Embassy has been and is in constant contact with compatriots for further information and instructions during and after the attacks.
Citizens have been asked to be cautious, avoiding unnecessary outings and following safety instructions from local authorities.
The airspace of the United Arab Emirates, like that of all Gulf countries, is temporarily closed as part of measures to intercept attacks and will remain so until further notice from local authorities. The opening of the airspace will occur when there are no more attacks and when neighboring countries take the same step. This is because countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan or even Bahrain have closed their airspace and it is currently impossible to transit over these territories. The start of flights will be possible only after the situation normalizes.
The Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Abu Dhabi is at the disposal of Albanian citizens resident or tourists in the United Arab Emirates and asks them to avoid unnecessary outings, gatherings in shopping malls, and to contact the emergency number for any needs: +971 50 980 7881.
