Zamira Durda said that she will not stop seeking justice for her son. She says that the explosion of March 15, 2008 is still before her eyes and that since that day, her life full of hardships at the doors of justice began, for which she says that these 17 years have only passed before her eyes.
"Like the first day the explosion happened. I was thinking 'yesterday', March 14, which had been my family's happiness, because from that day until today we have lived a difficult, tiring life, a life with a lot of pain. It has drowned us in great sorrow and pain, for the family, the source and the children," Durda told "Report tv".
Edison Durda was one of the 26 victims of the Gërdec massacre. He was only 6 years old and was playing with his bike when he lost his life in the explosion of the death factory.
Zamira says her son was innocent, while he was nearby playing with his bike.
"I'm only interested in finding justice for my son, they took his life unjustly. The only fault was that he went out to play with his bike, they burned him, set him on fire. We weren't at war, if it was a war I would be guilty of protecting my child, but he was killed by the state, he was massacred. He didn't know shells, ammunition, anything. The oath I took in front of his coffin, the day I left him for his last home, I won't back down and my motive is to establish justice. This is my strength," said Durda.
She does not hide her disappointment with the new justice system, which she says is dragging out the judicial process. She says that former minister Fatmir Mediu ordered the dismantling to be carried out by unqualified workers.
"For the victims' families and me, all the doors of justice have slammed in my face. In all of them, they have maintained the same position because they protect the state, even in Strasbourg, which we won in 2009 and won last year as a state crime. We have only won this battle for the rights of the victim. We continue in SPAK, which I had hope for. The defendants' lawyers say that they treat the victims like heroes. We have two years with the prosecutor's evidence in SPAK, hundreds of sessions have been held.
In the GJJKO I am part of the process, I have my rights, but you will hear the defendants, it has been dragging on for two years, we are still at the prosecutor's evidence. The financial expertise act lasted 6 months. The military expertise act is going on for 3 months. As long as he gave the order for the dismantling to be done by unqualified workers. He (Fatmir Mediu) gave this order that stripped the armed forces, the transport was done with army vehicles. The Albanian army itself was operating there", says Durda.
She even states that former Defense Minister Fatmir Mediu threatened them in the courtroom, telling them to shut up, while his lawyers told the judge that the victims were being treated like heroes.
"The defendant raised his voice, he directly addressed us, shut up, the judge is told, you are treating the victims like heroes. The media told you to shut up? Yes, terrible, only the defendant has the right, we have no right to speak, even if we speak we will be out. 2 years have passed and we are still at the prosecutor's evidence, only reading hours, parliamentary speeches, because there is no evidence, he will only drag on to gain time. He threatened us, the defendant was scolded in the hall ," said Zamira Durda.
