The year 2025 seems to have brought back the pattern of mafia-style murders in the country. In just the first two weeks of the year, at least 3 assassinations have been recorded, two of which have still remained unsolved due to the professionalism shown by the perpetrators.
Three people were killed in these three attacks. The first occurred on January 4, when 33-year-old Ramzan Mataj was shot with a hail of bullets inside his Benz car in the village of Dragoç, Shkodra, and was later found by passersby on January 5.
The investigation revealed that Ramazan Mataj had a long-term love affair with a girl from the village of Dragoç in Postribë, Shkodra, a forbidden love affair, as the family had married the young woman off twice. The marriages are suspected to have broken up precisely because of the story that the young people did not stop, and which was not easily passed over by the girl's older brother, who, as he said, had seen them together on one occasion.
With this accumulated anger, influenced by his mentality and friendly circle, and with his sister expelled from the family, Arjon Hasaj, 29, hatched a plan to kill 33-year-old Ramazan Mataj, his fellow villager.
The brother opened a fake profile on social media, pretending to be a girl who had come to the village to visit her aunt. With this scenario, he invited the young man on a date, where he killed him with a Kalashnikov volley inside the car on Saturday evening.

The second assassination attempt took place in the capital and was much more sophisticated than the one in Shkodra. On January 12, businessman Bujar Nasufi was shot with a barrage of bullets in his vehicle, near the entrance to his apartment in the "Palace of Arrows" area.
At the time of the attack, Nasufi was in the vehicle with his wife, who witnessed the entire scene. The perpetrator, disguised as a pizza delivery man, approached the victim's car on a motorcycle and fired his gun at the latter, seriously wounding him. The 56-year-old later died on the way to the hospital. The perpetrator, on the other hand, taking advantage of the night, escaped on his motorcycle towards the Selita area.
A day later, the motorcycle and the murder weapon were found burned in an abandoned army unit. The motorcycle turned out to be without a license plate or identification number. This has made it difficult for investigators, who still do not have a lead on the case. Nasuf's family members have been questioned to say whether they had previous conflicts, but they have denied this.
The third assassination attempt took place on the Fier-Vlora axis, near the village of Novoselë, a day after the one in Tirana. Yesterday evening, January 13, Kristjan Marku was executed by a hail of bullets while driving his vehicle towards Vlora.
According to the investigation, the 30-year-old was chased and shot for about 400 meters. Three bullets reportedly hit Marku in the body, who did not survive the wounds and died on the spot. The perpetrators then burned the car in the middle of the Fier-Vlora highway and then escaped in another car.
Due to the 30-year-old's criminal past, the main track remains that of revenge because Mark's tribe is in a blood feud with the Reçi tribe in Rrëshen. However, despite this, there is still nothing concrete.
What is worth noting and which is truly worrying is the fact that in our country the number of professional murders that the authorities fail to solve has increased, on the one hand.
