SPAK has summoned former Prime Minister Sali Berisha to appear before the Special Prosecution Office on November 14, where the democratic leader will be questioned about his status as a person with knowledge of January 21, 2011, when 4 protesters were killed during a demonstration called by the opposition at the time.
The event has been described as a state crime, while SPAK launched the investigation after a decision by the Strasbourg Court and then the Supreme Court, which forced the Special Prosecution Office to conduct an exhaustive investigation into the event that occurred 14 years ago.
Regarding this, journalist Adriatik Doçi, invited to Report TV, said that Berisha is primarily responsible and gave the order to shoot at protesters on January 21.
"I believe that Berisha is the architect of January 21 and will be prosecuted by SPAK, but I am not convinced of murder under extenuating circumstances or of obstructing the discovery of the truth. Those murders have been shamefully declared by the Albanian justice system as manslaughter. SPAK is in comfortable conditions to administer justice. I am convinced that the murders were committed on Berisha's orders. The question that arises is whether SPAK will prove who gave the order, even though I suspect that Berisha gave it.
"There is an audio recording where Ndrea Prendi orders his subordinate to shoot at the protesters and this sinks Ndrea Prendi because this is before the risk of being sentenced to life imprisonment. He must tell the investigators where he got the order from. Ndrea Prendi and Agim Llupo must testify," he said.
Doçi said that Berisha erased evidence for the January 21 event, while emphasizing that SPAK suffices to refer to the statements that Berisha has made to bring justice regarding this event.
"Yet Berisha still cannot escape from January 21 because he has also obstructed justice, where the most serious thing is the deletion of video footage on the prime minister's server, and this has been confirmed by FBI expertise and the rejection of the arrest warrant against the guard."
"Sali Berisha staged a coup by not recognizing the prosecution body that issues arrest warrants. SPAK is enough to take into account the changes in positions that Berisha held from January 21 to 2016, because he said they were killed with pistols, then he said by the guards because they were inside the perimeter wall and then he said that I would have killed Rama too, so he himself admitted to the murder," he said.
