Former President Ilir Meta's lawyer, Kujtim Cakrani, has reacted strongly outside the premises of the Special Court (GJKKO), where it will be decided whether the case against the former president and other defendants will go to trial.
He stated that the main investigations have been closed since August, while the prosecution is presenting new evidence "without factual and legal basis."
“According to them, a cousin of Ms. Kryemadhi has made payments to the LSI, but at no point is any transfer from the party’s bank accounts confirmed,” Cakrani told reporters. He stressed that the matching of dates between invoices from a private company and the LSI “cannot be considered evidence implicating the party or Mr. Meta.”
The lawyer explained that no document contains Ilir Meta's signature or any payment order in the name of LSI for the GSIS company. He also announced that he has requested the court not to accept the new evidence and return the file for additional investigations, emphasizing that "the problem is not with the evidence, but with the way the prosecution is presenting it." It should be noted that last week SPAK submitted new evidence for Ilir Meta.
" I asked the court not to accept any request from the Prosecution to accept new evidence at this procedural moment but to return the file for further investigations and the prosecution to conduct the procedure.
