Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, has announced the opening of a new airline connecting Tirana with the city of Heraklion on the island of Crete.
Through a post on social media, she described this development as "a new bridge between Albania and Crete," which will facilitate the movement of Albanians living and working in Greece.
" Tirana-Heraklion is the newest line to be added to the family of destinations from 'Mother Teresa' airport. A new bridge between Albania and Crete, which will serve thousands of Albanians who live and work there, but will also bring more visitors to our country ," writes Balluku.
According to her, Tirana International Airport (TIA) is recording steady growth with 118 active destinations and a forecast for a new record of 12 million passengers this year. The new route to Heraklion is expected to strengthen economic and tourist links between Albania and Greece, further expanding the regional flight network.
