Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has been called to testify about the January 21, 2011, incident in which four then-opposition demonstrators were killed by security forces in what is considered one of the most serious crimes in at least two decades, and SPAK reopened the investigation following a ruling by the Strasbourg Court.
According to reports, Berisha has been summoned to appear before SPAK on Friday (November 14) at 10:00, while the summons has been sent to the democratic leader at 3 addresses: the apartment where he lives, the DP headquarters, and the Parliament, where he is an MP.
He is called with the status of a person who may have knowledge of the circumstances surrounding the events.
In this way, it seems that SPAK has left no free path for the democratic leader to find excuses for not appearing on the pretext that he is not aware of the summons.
Berisha's appearance at SPAK regarding January 21 follows that of former Democratic Party leader Lulzim Basha, who was serving as Interior Minister at the time the 4 protesters were killed.
Some time ago, Ndrea Prendi, the former commander of the Republican Guard, appeared before SPAK, as well as several other former officials of that time who held positions in the police forces and the Republican Guard.
