Security expert Fatjon Softa spoke about the fire situation in Albania. He said that when the situation repeats itself every year, it is intolerable not to take measures.
He also said that the fire caused 325 million euros in damage to the state. This is a wake-up call for a country like Albania.
According to Softa, there should be a national center to better prevent fires, rather than trying to extinguish them. Softa emphasized that there is a lack of support for firefighters and proper infrastructure.
"The climate has changed a lot in recent years. Albania has been experiencing massive fires for several years, so it's not something new. So more organization is needed from the relevant institutions, so that the damage is minimized."
The damages are much higher, it is an alarm bell for a country like Albania. There is a lack of support for firefighters and proper infrastructure. I am sorry that the main reason for the fires are arsonists. The motives are different. The worst is still with repeat arsonists. So, they need to be kept under observation, prevention is better than analysis.
"The damage is huge, around 325 million euros in total this summer from the fires, burning forests, pastures, fruit trees, livestock, houses, and there has even been loss of life," he told "News 24".
