The Albanian Ambassador to Israel, Meri Kumbe, has shared details from the conflict in the Middle East. While speaking about the current situation, she said that tensions between Iran and Israel have escalated while rocket attacks have increased concerns.
She emphasized that since 3 a.m. yesterday, the embassy has been on full alert and has taken strict security measures, working from home and staying near security rooms.
Kumbe stressed that services in Israel are limited, while adding that five Albanian citizens who are in Israel have been instructed to remain locked up near security rooms.
"Since yesterday at 3 am we have been on full alert. It has been two nights. All embassy staff are well. The offices have not been opened due to internal security instructions. We have been working from home to ensure that we are close to the security rooms and that we are in enclosed spaces. Services in the country have been limited with the exception of essential services such as supermarkets, pharmacies, hospitals, firefighters and police.
"The situation is quite difficult, especially yesterday evening. We have 5 Albanian citizens in the territory who are in Israel mainly for work and tourism. We have instructed them to close themselves near the security rooms. We are in constant contact, waiting for how events will develop so that it becomes possible and organized for the departure of citizens from the country," Kumbe told "Euronews Albania".
The Ambassador also emphasized that the Embassy, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tirana, have been in constant contact with Albanians in Israel.
"We and the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tirana have been in constant contact with Albanians in Israel to assist as much as we can, mainly with instructions during this period. Our priority is that citizens receive instructions in real time," said Meri Kumbe.
Asked about the Israeli state's statements on whether there will be other attacks or whether the situation is under control by Israel, the Albanian ambassador said: "The situation is still an ongoing process. The country's Prime Minister has declared that it is a war and not a momentary attack."
