The investigations of the Durrës Prosecutor's Office have brought to light other details regarding the abuse in the Municipality of Rrogozhinės.
5 officials abused the reconstruction funds after the earthquake. They are accused of causing damage to the state budget worth 353 million ALL. It is reported that the measure "prison arrest" has been issued against: Mario Meka (former employee of the Rrogozhin Municipality), Xhemile Uku (currently the youth and sports police officer of the Rrogozhin Municipality), Besim Ballabani (employee in the Rrogozhin Municipality), Elton Levonja (former employee of Rrogozhin Municipality), Edlira Ramaj (currently specialist in human resources services, Rrogozhin Municipality).
According to the prosecution body, Besim Ballabani, Xhemile Uku, Mario Meka, Elton Levonja and Edlira Ramaj had abused their duty and the investigation shows that the apartments for which compensation was given due to earthquake damage were not for housing but in the files of other objects have been marked, including pig and cow sheds.
"From the investigation, the houses for which compensation was given due to the damage caused by the earthquake were not for services, but in the files there are other objects, pigs and cows are also included," it is quoted in the notice of the Prosecutor's Office.
This institution informed that in addition to the employees of the municipality, the 78 people who were with the officials for the reconstruction funds are also under their investigation. They are accused of the criminal offense of "fraud". The investigations against the 5 arrested people after the denunciations by the residents of Rogozhina, who complained that the earthquake damage verification processes had been done badly and that people who had not suffered any damage had benefited.
