The Court of Special Appeals has upheld the prison terms for former Deputy Minister of Health Klodian Rrjepaj and businessman Ilir Rrapaj, arrested for the sterilization concession.
The appeal has decided to leave unchanged the security measures for the 4 accused in the case of the sterilization concession.
Former Deputy Minister of Health Klodian Rjepaj and businessman Ilir Rrapaj together with the other accused have asked for a milder security measure.
Specifically, Klodian Rjepaj, Ilir Rrapaj, Marsela Serjani, Saimir Kadiu, Arben Gjata, Genc Burazeri have appealed to the Special Appeal, but the Special Court of Appeal has decided to leave the former deputy minister Rjepaj and the businessman Rrapaj in prison, as well as the measures given earlier to the other 4 accused.
While Naile Ajazi and Petro Mersini, who are under the obligation to appear, have not appealed.
The connection between the former deputy minister of health Klodian Rrjepaj and the businessman Ilir Rrapaj
The former minister and the businessman were arrested in mid-August of this year. Referring to the file, the connection between the former minister and the businessman, who won the concession for the sterilization of surgical sets, is proven. According to SPAK Rrjepaj and Rrapaj completed their studies together with the Faculty of Medicine in 1991-1994. Likewise, the director of the Sani Service concession company was their classmate.
Their acquaintance has been confirmed by other relatives. From the data in the TIMS system, it appears that Ilir Rrapaj, Ilir Beqja and Klodian Rjepaj entered Albania on 15.06.2014. This period coincides with the preparatory time of the concessionaire. SPAK informs that they have also traveled together at other times.
Specifically, Rjepaj, Rrapaj and Ombro Staccini left Albania from Rinas on April 13, 2016. On November 24 of the same year, Rrapaj and Rjepja left Albania and went to Perugia.
Another piece of evidence listed by SPAK is that a review of the ministry's website shows that on June 15, 2014, a post was made of the meetings held by the Minister of Health Beqja and Ilir Rrapajt.
