Road accidents, the confrontation and the ruined image of the policeman in front

Road accidents remain one of the sharpest problems facing Albania.

Albania registers over 50,000 cases of road accidents every year and in all these cases the police officers are in the "eye" of the citizen for the attitude they take and the decisions they make.

Road accidents do not only cause human damage, which is the most unfortunate, but also material damage.

From January to July, INSTAT reports on 84 cases of accidents with loss of life and over 900 others with light and serious injuries.

All these material or health damages are billed to the insurance industry, which, during the 7th month of this year, has paid nearly 3 billion ALL in damages, not forgetting the reserves, about 70 billion ALL, which are expected to be paid according to legal requirements .

The main weight is carried by TPL, or as we know it commonly, Compulsory Car Insurance with 2.36 billion ALL in damages, then comes the Green Card with 534 million ALL in paid damages and over 1.5 billion ALL in reserve and Border Insurance with 26 million ALL.

But today we will focus on another aspect, so widespread and problematic: the role of the Traffic Police.

The regulations and laws in force clearly indicate how to act in the event of an accident.

· Do not move the accident vehicle;

· Take photos and videos of vehicles at the scene;

· In case you are not guilty, you do not accept guilt;

· The Traffic Police is notified, comes and does the expertise;

· The insurance company where you are insured is notified.

But what really happens?

The Traffic Police, in most cases, not only do not respect any of the above-mentioned points, but rush to find the culprit of the accident without doing any expertise or investigation yet.

We are all witnesses at least once when the policeman asks those involved in the accident: "Who is to blame?"; "Who has CASCO?"; "Come on, KASKO or mini-KASKO pays the damages."

Why does this happen? Why is the scene deformed?

It is here that the figure of the police officer appears in front of the citizen.

With such unprofessional and even more criminal behavior, the police not only distorts the scene, financially burdens an innocent party, but also creates precedents for the future.

In short, the policeman damages the uniform he wears and creates a wrong image in front of the citizen. Sometimes willingly and sometimes forced, because he has to take the side of the "friend", "the strong" etc. While on the other hand, the innocent, those "who are not strong and have no friends" are declared guilty with the police forcing them to sign papers, without knowing what and why.

Despite the positive changes in the State Police, unfortunately this early phenomenon continues to damage its image but also to financially harm citizens and insurance companies.

Citizens, on the other hand, by "eating the pressure" of the police and admitting guilt by signing without knowing what, not only do not receive the compensation they deserve, but they also have to compensate the other party.

Also, these actions of police officers do not promote the culture of insurance in the country, as in all of Europe and the World, they create a wrong image for insurance companies by keeping them away from Voluntary Insurance, a not small deficiency for our society .

Let this article be an appeal not only for the State Police, which must respect the law, but also for road users:

"Be careful in case you are involved in a road accident. Do not accept the blame if you are not the cause and stay away from 'all the vines'".
