The head of the "Albania Becomes" initiative, Adriatik Lapaj, said that the minister Ulsi Manja and the head of the group of democrats Gazment Bardhi lied about the Criminal Amnesty approved two days ago in the Parliament.
According to him, it is being used to delegitimize the justice reform.
Lapaj said that it is not true that the officials convicted by GJKKO will not be released.
"Making amnesty for ordinary citizens is okay, but using amnesty to delegitimize justice reform is unacceptable. Yesterday, both Manja and Bardhi lied, because they said that this amnesty does not affect senior officials who have been convicted by GJKKO, because according to this amnesty they benefit. So the high officials lied. The other issue is the message being delivered; these political leaders who make decisions in parliament tell their subordinates to take over the prison because we will get you out. Next message; it is a discouragement to the new institutions of justice, that you meet as a parliament, you tell those prosecutors you have nothing, we do as we want. On the other hand, it is a mockery of Albanians' money, that SPAK prosecutors are paid as much as a chicken", said Lapaj to Euronews Albania.
