Everything is ready to resume the operation in Albania, the transfer from Italy of migrants rescued at sea to the detention centers of Gjadri and Shëngjin.
After a two-month break, the Navy patrol ship Libra has returned to the waters near Lampedusa, ready to load migrants who will be transferred to Albania.
Radio Radicale journalist Sergio Scandura reported this on X.
After the decline of recent months, the government is trying again, trying to fill the deserted centers that continue to weigh on the Italian state's coffers.
In October and November, no more than twenty migrants were sent to facilities set up in Albania, but judges in the immigration section of the Rome court decided not to uphold their detention. So they returned to Italy to follow the traditional asylum application process.
Things seem to have changed since then, thanks to the interpretation of a Supreme Court decision, which gave the Meloni Government the right to determine which places are safe.
"It seems to me that the Court of Cassation has essentially agreed with the Italian government on the fact that it is the right of governments to decide what the list of safe countries is," Giorgia Meloni declared at the time, asserting that "judges can enter into the merits of an individual case regarding the country, but not completely disregard the list drawn up by the government." / Adapt Pamphlet /
