Journalist Enton Abilekaj commented on developments in the Municipality of Tirana and the possibility of holding early elections, during an interview on the show "This Week" on News24.
According to Abilekaj, the current situation at the head of the municipality is blocked due to the role of Anuela Ristani, who is in the position of acting mayor and exercises powers due to Erion Veliaj's absence, but does not have the political support of the Socialist Party.
" In Tirana, there is Anuela Ristani who cannot be dismissed, because she is there as deputy mayor and she does not sign anything she does not want. She knows that they have thrown her out, and they do not want her there, they are stuck with her ," said Abilekaj.
The journalist emphasized that this institutional deadlock situation may be the reason that is pushing forward the holding of early elections for the Municipality of Tirana, despite the legal debate that has erupted around their decree.
" I believe that for this reason, elections will be held in Tirana as soon as possible, even though legally the elections cannot be held on November 9. With what is happening in this country, the decree can be reversed and the elections can still be held on November 9 ," Abilekaj added.
