After the huge uproar of the first three days, when the Police seized hundreds of skateboards and fined the drivers, the officers are no longer on the ground. Neither yesterday nor today, not a single patrol was seen on the streets of Tirana to stop skateboard users.
The action, presented as a road safety measure, died down as quickly as it began, raising doubts about whether it was a propaganda decision or a hasty campaign without any concrete plan for long-term implementation. From the observation carried out during Thursday and Friday at the five points where police patrols were previously stationed to stop skateboards, these points no longer exist.
On the other hand, skateboard users have continued to use their scooters normally. The only ones who have suffered from this sudden three-day police action have been those users who were caught from Monday to Wednesday and whose skateboards or electric scooters were seized and are being blocked by the traffic police. However, the reaction of citizens and public opinion apparently had a result, as after Wednesday the traffic police have withdrawn from the blockades.
Sources indicate that a draft is expected to be drafted and consulted with the public, in order to then create a law on the circulation of electric skateboards. According to the new law, skateboards will not be banned, but traffic rules and speed limits will be established. / A2 Television
