Just one day after the Supreme Court rejected the request to unblock the "Ilir Meta" file, the former president faced another legal battle today in the Special Appeal against Corruption and Organized Crime. The subject of the hearing was the request to lift the detention measure, but it did not take place; it was postponed to October 23 at the request of Meta's own lawyers.
According to the defense, the problem arose from the lack of transparency regarding the name of the judge who would review the case. Attorney Kujtim Cakrani said that the name of the judge had not been made public and consequently, Meta was not even aware of whether there was any conflict of interest.
It was later confirmed that the judge was Saida Dollani, a name known in the system but not listed in the official court announcement. According to the defense, the judge herself was surprised by the absence of her name in the hearing documentation.
" We went to court, we were notified by the secretary and the chief secretary of the court, and after the parties were legitimized, we found that the name of the judge was not listed. And in terms of this, the president did not know who the judge of the session was and neither did I, this is a big surprise, for this reason I requested that the session be postponed so that I could communicate to the president the name of the judge who will judge that he is in a conflict of interest with the judge. The judge is Mrs. Saida Dollani, who was surprised that the notification did not include her name, but that of the chief secretary of the court ," said Mete's lawyer, Kujtim Cakrani.
