Former Minister of Finance Arben Ahmetaj has closed his testimony in SPAK. After nearly 5 hours and 30 minutes, he left the Special Prosecutor's Office, refusing to speak to the media. He said "thank you" to the journalists several times, while stating that he had only spoken to clarify his position in front of the prosecutors.
Ahmetaj was summoned to SPAK as part of the investigation being carried out by the prosecution against the latter for 4 charges: abuse of office, corruption, money laundering and illegal benefits . It was 12:00 when Ahmetaj appeared at SPAK to be interrogated as a person under investigation accompanied by his lawyer Henrik Ligori.
It is learned that SPAK has combined two proceedings, the division of the fraction for the incinerator of Elbasan, where it is being investigated for abuse of office and corruption and money laundering after the report that was made to the villa in Hamallaj.
The investigations against Ahmetaj started after there were hints in the media that he had benefited from trips and benefits from the bosses of the incinerators. There were several e-mails that came out and this caused SPAK to start investigations. Ahmetj himself does not appear anywhere to have signed, but SPASK accuses him of 4 criminal offences.
Some time ago, the investigators of the National Bureau of Investigation landed for control in some of the properties on behalf of the ex-wife of Arben Ahmetaj, Albina Mançka, and her cohabitant Erjola Hoxha. During the inspection of the villa in the Hamallaj area, 30 thousand euros and a number of documents were seized. Meanwhile, only a few documents were seized from the ex-wife's house. After this inspection, SPAK made the decision to seize the 2 villas. Ahmetaj appealed to the Appeal and the Supreme Court with the argument that the seizure was illegal because the deputy has immunity, but the request was dismissed.
