The trial for Gërdec has been scheduled for today.
In this court session, all the people who were harmed by the explosion, where 26 people were killed and dozens more were injured, will be part of this court session.
The only defendant is former defense minister Fatmir Mediu, who is accused of abuse of office in two cases.
The session is expected to start at 14:00 and it is not known if the former minister will be present in this session, who has not appeared in 3-4 sessions, but his lawyers simply went to the session.
On June 7, GJKKO again postponed the hearing against the former Minister of Defense Fatmir Mediu, for the case of Gërdec.
Through a statement to the media, the defense lawyer has considered the extension of the judicial process against Mediu to be a travesty.
The accusations against Mediu
The Special Structure against Corruption and Organized Crime accuses Mediu of "abuse of duty" and "abuse of duty in cooperation with military command staff" regarding the Gërdec explosion file.
The two prosecutors who would file the claim are Altin Dumani and Arben Kraja, one head of SPAK, the other his predecessor.
We remind you that Mediu has requested a summary trial, but SPAK has not yet announced the claim against the accused.
On the other hand, the lawyers of the former minister Fatmir Mediu have requested that the case be dismissed for the effect of anticipation, since according to them the client has no fault for the state's inaction over the years.
