The hearing expected to be held today against the former minister Fatmir Mediu has been postponed again and the reason was that the prosecution will verify the list presented by the families of the victims of Gërdec.

Lawyer Dorian Matlija considered the decision of the Special Court an achievement, while 290 people, among them the injured and family members of the victims of the tragedy, will be contacted by the court.
The re-opening of the investigations against Mediu started after the request of the Durda family, who lost their 6-year-old son in this tragedy.
From the analysis of the claims in the request for the reopening of the investigations, it results that there are all the legal reasons for revoking the decision to dismiss the criminal case against Mediu and to reopen the investigations against him for committing the criminal offense "Abuse of duty", carried out in cooperation.
Earlier, the trial against the former minister failed two sessions in a row due to Mediu's defense lawyers who did not appear. The court previously ordered that in the absence of lawyers, the former minister should be defended by a lawyer appointed by the state.
The accusations against Fatmir Mediu
The Special Structure against Corruption and Organized Crime accuses Mediu of "abuse of duty" and "abuse of duty in cooperation with military command staff" regarding the Gërdec explosion file.
The two prosecutors who would file the claim are Altin Dumani and Arben Kraja, one head of SPAK, the other his predecessor.
We remind you that Mediu has requested a summary trial, but SPAK has not yet announced the claim against the accused.
On the other hand, the lawyers of the former minister Fatmir Mediu have requested that the case be dismissed for the effect of anticipation, since according to them the client has no fault for the state's inaction over the years.
