The city of Shkodra, but not only, has lost a hero today, a hero who will not be easily forgotten.
Arben Alamani sacrificed his life today in the line of duty, serving visitors and tourists in Shkodra until the end.
He was the captain of one of the boats that the Municipality of Shkodra has made available to tourists for trips on the lake.
There are hundreds and hundreds of tourists who have boarded his ship, but today an event occurred that cost Alamani his life.
Two of the tourists who were traveling on Arben's boat fell into the water and its captain did not hesitate to jump in and save them. The tourists had difficulty swimming and Arben did what not everyone would do, he sacrificed his life for them. He managed to save the two tourists from drowning, but he himself did not make it. He remained in the lake and the search is still ongoing to find the body.
Initially, it was the police who reacted to the incident: " At around 16:32, a notification was received from the Operations Room that on Lake Shkodra, the captain of the Shkodra Municipality's tourist boat, citizen AA, 51 years old, is suspected of drowning while trying to rescue two tourists who had fallen into the water.
The tourists have been rescued and are in good health. Police services immediately went to the scene, and the search for the 51-year-old's body continues .
Then there was a reaction from the Municipality of Shkodra, which expressed condolences to his family. " Today, the Municipality of Shkodra lost one of its most dedicated people, the captain of the tourist boat, Arben Anamali, who lost his life during a heroic act to save two tourists who were in danger of drowning in Lake Shkodra. An act of humanity, but unfortunately with a bitter end. Arben was always at the service of visitors and tourists, giving his contribution with passion and dedication until the last moment of his life. The Municipality of Shkodra expresses its most sincere condolences to the Anamali family in this difficult moment ," she said.
Undoubtedly, Arben will remain a hero, a hero who should always be remembered by the Municipality of Shkodra and the residents of this city.
