Former Minister of Finance, Arben Malaj, declared that Albanian political parties "have turned into LLCs, with only 100% owners being the party leaders."
He stated that this type of party organization has killed internal democracy on both sides of Albanian politics.
" After the critical changes of 2008, political parties changed. From organizations where there was a kind of debate, a kind of liveliness, thought, alternative, opposition, the parties turned into LLCs with only 100% owners, the party leaders. This killed internal democracy, on both sides. And if we look at further developments within political parties, they have always been in regression ," said Malaj in a direct connection with the "Terminal" studio on A2CNN.
He brought to attention the platform he brought to the SP in 2021, but which Rama rejected because they had to come to power first, then modernize the party.
"This was also my debate with Rama in 2011, when I presented the platform where the debate was essentially that parties should modernize before coming to power, while Rama defended the idea that they should come to power, then they will modernize. But, the truth happened then that power has been essentially and absolutely concentrated in Rama, whether within the party or within the government, and we know from political lessons that absolute power is absolutely corrupt," Malaj added.
According to him, "the failure to modernize political forces creates a cost in governing the country."
" I think it is good that people, especially those who swear to serve their country through participation in political parties, adhere to the oath they take in Parliament at a minimum. There is no oath for the party leader, there is an oath for your country," Arben Malaj further emphasized.
