The former Minister of Health has filed a new request with the Special Court, requesting the replacement of the "prison arrest" security measure with another, lighter measure, by also offering a financial guarantee in the amount of 20 thousand euros.
This time, the request was accompanied by the unifying decision of the Supreme Court, which held a position regarding the application of personal security measures such as "prison arrest".
Beqaj is currently under the security measure of "prison arrest" as part of the investigation into the case known as the SPAK file.
Meanwhile, in the court process for the Saspac file, where several people are accused, including former official Ilir Beqaj, the Special Prosecution Office presented new evidence to the court.
SPAK brought as new evidence to the process a laptop, which was previously seized, owned by Alfred Nikolli. Specifically, the new evidence presented to Judge Elsa Ulliri was an Excel spreadsheet, which contained data on the expenses incurred by Nikolli at the "Festa" event.
Beqaj has been in prison since July 4, 2024, when he was arrested in connection with the SASPAC abuse file.
According to SPAK, Ilir Beqaj, in his capacity as the General Director of SASPAC, ordered Kurtulaj, with whom he had early acquaintances as they were partners in the company Intech+, to implement fictitious procurements in violation of EU laws for EUSAIR projects only during the years 2022-2023, for EUSAIR projects, the money of which ended up in Beqaj's pockets. According to SPAK, the tenders were made only for documentary purposes and later than the conclusion and implementation of contracts with various companies.
