The famous comedian, Agron Llakaj, has shared rare details from his artistic life and the vicissitudes he has experienced during his career, revealing for the first time the pressures and threats he received after imitating former president Sali Berisha in the late '90s.
In the story published on his YouTube channel, titled "My Life", Llakaj recalls that the first imitation of Berisha was carried out in Tepelena, at the height of the political tensions of the time.
According to him, the public reaction was very positive, but the situation changed immediately after the performance, when representatives of the Democratic Party in Tepelena warned him of serious consequences.
"They told me that I had damaged the image of the president and that I could go to jail," the actor recounts.
Llakaj said that after the performance, he was also faced with warnings from people in the justice system, who suggested he leave to avoid criminal prosecution.
"They told me: leave as soon as possible, because authorization may come to prosecute you," he recalls.
The comedian also spoke about the period when, together with the late actor Koço Devole, he hosted the show "Albanian Telebingo", one of the most watched formats of the time.
In his story, Llakaj also revealed another episode from 1998, when former Prime Minister Fatos Nano asked him to imitate Sali Berisha during a political meeting in Vlora.
According to the actor, the request was intended to create humor at the event, but he decided to decline due to fear of possible backlash.
"I was afraid that some Berisha supporter would shoot me ," said Llakaj.
The actor emphasized that the political climate of that period was extremely tense and that political impersonations were often accompanied by strong reactions.
