Lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu commented on the escape of Çopjave 'soldier' Altin Ndoci from Durrës Hospital today, while raising questions about the possibility of cooperation from within police structures for his escape.
In a Skype call for the 'Repolitix' show on Report TV, Spahiu said that the escape method does not indicate a well-organized professional plan.
" Prisoner escapes happen everywhere, 90 percent of them happen outside detention centers in places where they work or, in this specific case, the hospital. But it needs to be known whether it is a one-sided escape or if there is collaboration from within the prison for this prisoner's escape. It needs to be seen whether it is a coincidence that a prisoner escapes while a party is being organized at the police station, or whether it is a coincidence that the police and the hospital were not notified."
"What stands out is that it is not very professional, if you look at the way he left I don't think it is very sophisticated. The policeman tried to scare him by shooting him but we could have had circumstances to kill him when he shot him. The police have the right to shoot a person who is fleeing and it is questionable why the policeman shoots once at the ground, once at the ceiling ," he said.
Spahiu emphasized that this event highlights a major problem related to the physical and professional preparation of the police forces, including the inability to use service weapons.
"From this whole incident, one fact is indisputable that we have police forces that are physically unprepared and even unprepared for the use of weapons. This sheds light on the incompetence of the prison police ," he said.
