The Greek deputy of the New Democracy party, Angelos Syrigos, will come to Tirana, while he will hold a private meeting with the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri.
During the visit to our country, Syrigos will make a meeting at the detention facilities located at the Tirana Prison Hospital Center (Mother Teresa).
After the meeting, at 12:00, Syrigos will speak to the Albanian media, where he will reveal details of the meeting with Beleri.
Fredi Beleri was arrested in the premises of a bar in Himare, just 2 days before the local elections on May 14. Although arrested, he was able to win the elections against the other leftist candidate, Jorgo Goro.
However, Beleri could not take office, as the authorities did not give him permission to take the oath of office. His arrest has not a little tensed the rhetoric of the Greek neighbors, who have demanded his immediate release, and have even raised the issue as problematic all the way to Brussels. If found guilty, Fredi Beleri risks being sentenced from 1 to 5 years in prison.
