Former prison policeman Gentjan Bejtja was killed on March 15 in the courtyard of his apartment, in an assassination that appeared to be well-organized.
Bejtë had survived three assassination attempts, but the fourth was fatal for him. While he was in the courtyard of his apartment, masked men shot him with a barrage of bullets.
Several people, including Gani Bejtja, the father of Gentian Bejtja, were questioned in relation to the incident as persons who have knowledge of circumstances useful to the investigation.
"My son, Gentjan Bejtja, had been living in my house in the village of Larushka for ten days. On March 15, 2024, I left the apartment in my Volkswagen and went to the city of Fushë-Krujë, in order to pay for electricity.
After staying for 1 hour, I returned home. My wife, Liri Bejtja, my son, Gentiani, were there, along with his wife and their two minor sons. During the day, I was busy with various chores in the apartment, mainly cleaning the yard. At 3:30 PM, my son, Gentiani, left and went to his nearby apartment to water the vegetables in a greenhouse, close to my house.
Around 4:00 PM, I heard gunfire coming from the boy's apartment. My wife and I went there. On the way, I noticed a black SUV that sped out onto the main road, but I couldn't make out the license plates or the direction it was going.
After entering the apartment, my wife and I approached the vegetable garden and there I noticed the boy covered in blood. Initially, we tried to pull him away with the intention of giving him medical help, but we realized that this effort was futile.
"I immediately reported to the operations room of the Krujë Police Station where I reported the murder of my son Gentian Bejtja," Gani Bejtja recounts.
Asked about his suspicions about the perpetrators of the incident and the conflicts his son has had, Gani Bejtja explained that he has no suspicions about the possible perpetrators and is not aware of the conflicts his son has had. /Abcnews.al/
