Kujtim Cakrani, Ilir Meta's lawyer, shared how the former President is coping with his time in prison, almost a year after his arrest.
"Mr. Meta writes every day, answers journalists' questions, communicates with his people through letters and does sports. He is also writing a book about his commitments over the last 34 years. It will be a book that will reveal to Albanians what has happened behind the scenes in Albanian politics," the lawyer told "A2 CNN".
Regarding Meta's appeal, the lawyer stated that they do not expect anything from the Supreme Court.
"This court has become a notary of the lower courts, it has lost its role and credibility with the public. The Supreme Court has lost its orientation because it should have listened to the lawyers, but it makes decisions only in the consulting room, without listening to the parties. Citizens wait 8 years for the case to come to the Supreme Court and then it does not accept the recourse. This Supreme Court has become a nightmare for Albanians", said Cakrani.
