Journalist Klodiana Lala has explained that Lulzim Basha has appeared before SPAK as a person aware of the events of January 21, 2011, which are being investigated by this prosecutor's office.
Lala says Basha was summoned based on a subpoena signed by prosecutor Alfred Shehu, who is investigating the violent demonstration led by the opposition at the time, where 4 protesters were killed.
" At the time of the incident, Basha held the position of Minister of Interior and was in the Prime Minister's Office premises, where the Republican Guard opened fire on demonstrators, causing casualties.
He was called to provide information on the dynamics of those tense hours and to clarify whether there were orders for the Guard's actions.
The SPAK investigation has been reactivated based on audio materials provided by the US, as well as reports by journalist Artan Hoxha and relatives of the victims.
The prosecution is investigating the role of senior officials during the demonstration, including Guard officials and people who were in the Prime Minister's Office.
"In the course of the investigation, foreign experts will conduct a reanalysis of the shells, to precisely determine their origin and use during the event ," said Lala.
