"There is pressure from politics", Aleks Nika's uncle reacts

Mark Nika, the uncle of Aleks Nika, the protesters killed on Dëshmorët e Kombit Boulevard on January 21, 2011, has stated that they are not seeking mercy, but legal justice.

14 years after this serious event, in which 4 opposition protesters were killed at the time, SPAK summoned former Interior Minister Lulzim Basha this Thursday, who was questioned for almost two hours by prosecutors.

This action by SPAK gives hope for justice for the family of Aleks Nika. His uncle stressed that there was political pressure on this issue, but according to him, the prosecutors have committed actions that no one can erase.

" We salute SPAK, especially the president and the prosecutor of the case, who have done a commendable job in investigating the case. SPAK encouraged justice. We have not asked for mercy, but only justice and for politics to be far from the investigation of this case. We have information that there is still pressure to undo the investigation of January 21. But the prosecutors of the case have committed actions that politics and no one can erase. Time proved us right, Strasbourg was in our favor. Killing innocent people on the boulevard, the murder of Aleksi, has damaged us a lot, because his children are being raised orphans due to the state crime of the government of the time. Today, Basha's call gives us hope that the investigation will go to the end. We do not know what he declared, but I am convinced that he has full knowledge of how this state crime was organized. His explanations will contribute to the investigation of the case ."

He spoke about the pain of the family not only from the loss of Aleks Nika, but also from the lack of justice in these years.

" We suffer as a family, especially Alex's parents, waiting every day for justice to be served. The guilty will be punished as they deserve and we will certainly ease the pain that Alex will not return to us. We do not ask for mercy, but legal justice. It is an open wound that only requires the truth ."
