The Municipality of Elbasan has established a public joint stock company with the purpose of activity in the field of agritourism, agriculture and property management.
The new company is named “Eko Rural Elbasan” and its shares are owned by the Municipality of Elbasan. According to documents filed with the National Business Center, the company will deal with the development, administration and promotion of agritourism in rural areas.
The scope of activity includes the establishment and management of guesthouses, tourist farms, as well as the organization of recreational and educational activities. This places the municipality in a direct economic role in sectors where private entities usually operate.
In addition to rural tourism, "Eko Rural Elbasan" will also have the right to deal with the collection, processing, packaging and marketing of agricultural products. The documents provide for the creation or rental of collection points for fresh and processed fruits and vegetables.
"The object of the company's activity will be the development, administration and promotion of agrotourism, including the establishment and management of guesthouses, tourist farms, recreational and educational activities in rural areas, " states the company's extract filed with the National Business Center.
The company will also be able to operate in the dairy sector and its by-products, including cheese, butter and cottage cheese. This will give it the opportunity to operate in several links of the agricultural chain, from the collection of production to marketing.
The scope of activity also provides for the administration, granting and renting or using movable and immovable assets, when these are related to the purpose of the company.
The statute also includes the right to establish other commercial companies, such as joint-stock companies, limited liability companies or forms of agricultural cooperation. “Eko Rural Elbasan” may also participate as a co-founder in agricultural cooperation companies or other commercial entities.
The creation of this company significantly expands the economic space of the Municipality of Elbasan, as the public company will be able to operate in tourism, agriculture, trade and property administration.
