Intense rainfall during 24 hours, IGEO: Most at risk regions

The Institute of Geosciences (IGJEO) has announced that moderate to locally intense rainfall is expected in several regions of the country this Wednesday afternoon and throughout Thursday.

According to forecasts, the heaviest rainfall will affect the regions of Shkodër, Vlorë and Gjirokastër, while light to locally moderate rainfall is expected in Kukës, Fier, Berat and Korçë, accompanied by thunderstorms. IGJEO announces that during the next 24 hours, light rainfall will also occur in other regions of the country.

Temperatures will drop by about 3 degrees Celsius on Thursday. According to forecasts, minimum temperatures will drop to 1 degree Celsius, while maximums will not exceed 15 degrees.

At altitudes above 1,000 meters above sea level, precipitation is expected to be in the form of snow, not only in the North, but also in the East and Southeast areas of the country.

The most worrying parameter remains the wind, especially in the South and along the coast, where it will blow medium to strong. Due to the weather conditions, navigation of small craft and fishing vessels continues to be suspended.

According to IGJEO, this situation will continue until Thursday, when the wind is expected to gradually weaken, especially in the open sea.
