Journalist Artan Hoxha has reacted on the inauguration of the Kuçova base. He states that our country once had a team of 187 attack aircraft of the type, MIG 17, MIG 19 and MIG 21, which were "destroyed". Today, Albania has finished with only 3 'Bayraktar' drones. The MIG-19 is a type of attack aircraft, put into service by the Albanian FA, in 1962. It was the main combat aircraft of the Albanian Army for 43 years in a row.
The Albanian army had 75 MIG 19 attack aircraft.
Having a large number of MIG 19 aircraft, squadrons of attack aircraft of this type were distributed in the three military air bases of Kučova, Gjadri and Rinas.
From 2005, Albania decommissioned its entire air fleet of combat aircraft consisting of 187 attack aircraft of the type, MIG 17, MIG 19 and MIG 21...
Since 2005, Albania has only a limited fleet of transport helicopters...
While today, March 4, 2024, all that great ceremony took place, since Albania finally has only 3 Bayraktar drones....
We used to have a whole fleet of 187 attack aircraft and 3 air bases, now we resurfaced the Kuçova air base runway and just got 3 drones...
