Analyst Fitim Zekthi commented on the latest developments regarding the opposition, who said that he expects that in the next parliamentary session there will be tension and chaos again.
As for the future of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, whose immunity will be voted on in Thursday's session, Zekthi said that he may lose his mandate if he does not appear in the Assembly for 6 months in a row.
Zekthi also said that the court may even allow Berisha to participate in the parliamentary sessions, despite the measure of house arrest.
"I think that the next session will again be very messy. The opposition led by Berisha will continue what it has done to block the parliamentary session, which will nevertheless be held and voted on.
This will further define the opposition as a group that does not have public approval. I see a session with noise, chaos and noise. This could have been avoided by Berisha, but the way he operates in his approach brought him to this point.
Senior politicians reject court decisions, when ordinary citizens do not, it seems senseless. Systems are evaluated whether or not there are persons above the law. Berisha says I'm not going because the constitution has been broken. Decisions are binding, but you cannot refuse.
One way is that the court can give Berisha the opportunity to go to the parliamentary sessions after the house arrest. Beleri is under arrest and is not allowed to take the oath, but if Berisha is not allowed to go for more than 6 months, his term expires.
When PD was united and stronger, up to 20,000 people gathered in protests. Today the Democrats are not in that condition. The people's faith in Berisha's movement is zero. The little expectation that some people had proved to be an illusion.
What Berisha has done these two years is suicidal and senseless, so there can be no result. I would never want to say this, I would like Berisha to be innocent and gain credibility as an important politician, but those who follow him must understand that he is going from mistake to mistake", said Zekthi for "News 24".
