Kakavija is "blocked", the first weekend of August brings high influx

The first weekend of August marked a high flow of movement of citizens and vehicles at the Kakavija border crossing, in both directions of the Albanian-Greek border.

According to the Border Police, over the last 24 hours, around 6,000 people and 1,700 vehicles have entered Albania through this border point, mainly immigrants living in Greece and returning to spend their summer holidays with their families.

Meanwhile, 3,500 people and 1,300 vehicles have traveled towards the Greek state, many of them Albanian citizens who choose to spend their holidays in Greece.

To cope with the significant increase in the flow, the Albanian authorities have put into operation 4 entry and 3 exit counters, while the Greek side has also increased the number of document control counters.

Despite the increased flow, this Saturday has marked long lines and delays at the border crossing due to the high flow.
