CEC Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi has requested that a more in-depth investigation be carried out on Leonard Hiden, the head of Libohova Municipality, as he is suspected of having violated the decriminalization law.
The CEC has requested information from the office of the judicial situation, at the General Directorate of Prisons. In response to this request of the CEC, the Directorate of Prisons informed that Hide in question has not been convicted by a final criminal decision.
Also, from the verification of the data in the self-declaration form of the mayor of Libohova, it appears that he did not declare any data related to the provisions of the decriminalization law.
Despite all these preliminary investigations, a complaint from the Democratic Party has set the Central Election Commission in motion again.
"Election subject 'Democratic Party of Albania' by letter no. 1297, dated 16.05.2024 informs the CEC that Mr. Leonard Vyrtyt Hide was investigated by the SPAK and sent for trial to the Special Court.. 'because it is suspected that during the time he was the head of the Crimes Section at the Gjirokastra Police Station, he allowed the cultivation of narcotic plants for a profit', it is quoted in the CEC report.
Based on this information, Celibashi appreciated that it is necessary to obtain additional information regarding the facts and circumstances presented to the head of the Libohova Municipality and the report of the General Prosecutor's Office will now be awaited as to whether Hide is under the conditions of termination of the mandate or not.
