The Director of the State Police, Muhamet Rrumbullaku, gave a press conference today where he revealed details from the "Never Forget" mega-operation.
According to the testimony of Artan Tafani, the murders were committed on account of Laert Haxhiu and were executed in several places such as in Greece, Elbasan, Korça, Lushnje and Tepelena.
Rrumbullaku said that from the testimony of Artan Tafani, 6 murders and 5 explosions with explosives committed by the gang led by Laert Haxhiu, who is currently in Janina prison, were revealed.
"During this mega-operation, investigations were carried out with professionalism that led to the clarification of 6 murders, 5 cases of destruction of property, 1 case of threatening the police, the clarification of two murders committed in Greece. Elbasan Prosecutor's Office issued 15 arrest warrants, 12 were executed, while 3 were declared wanted
On 17/10/2021, the Elbasan Prosecutor's Office registered criminal proceedings for the crime of premeditated murder. From the study of investigative acts, on 7/10/2021/ in Peqin, Alban Semaku was killed.
The suspect is Artan Tafani, born and resident in Lushnje. From the investigations, it is suspected that this citizen and others committed murders and other criminal events in the period 2021-2023, in several cities. The murder of Çajup Selim, on 1/ 06/2021 in Tepelena, the case of Fridan Xhaferi on 2/06/2021, the murder of Alban Semaku, on 16/10/2021, the murder of Albi Bashaliu, on 27/12/2021 in Peqin, the remaining attempted murder against Kujtim With him. There were 5 cases of destruction with explosives", said Rrumbullaku, among other things.
Out of 15 prohibition orders, 12 have been executed and 3 are being sought, he said.
"Specifically, Artan Tafani revealed: 6 murders, 5 explosives; 3 violent thefts; 3 attempted murder cases; 1 case of threatening the police. 15 arrest warrants have been issued, 12 executed, 3 wanted," Rrumbullaku said.
