The Sea with Greece, Çipa: Ferit Hoxha is in his most difficult position

The issue of sharing the sea with Greece places Albanian diplomacy in one of the most difficult positions, while the strategy pursued by the government to send the case to the International Court of Justice is viewed with deep skepticism.

Journalist and analyst Aleksandër Çipa, invited to the studio of the show "Ora e Betit" on "Ora News" moderated by journalist Beti Njuma, emphasized that this move could simply be an "interstate alibi" to manage a complex situation.

He said that this cause, which has been discussed since 2009, has been deliberately kept in a "refined informational isolation" by both sides of Albanian politics, treating it as a matter of behind-the-scenes rather than public debate.

In this context, the referral to The Hague is not considered a real process, but rather an excuse.

"It is not a process that will go to the Hague Tribunal. It is an interstate alibi that is being used for this case," said Çipa. This approach casts strong doubts on the real will to resolve the issue, presenting it as a diplomatic maneuver without concrete content.

The discussion also brings to attention the irreplaceable contribution of the late former ambassador, Shaban Murati, whose work is described as an "excellent scan" and an essential reference point for anyone seeking to deeply understand Albanian-Greek relations and the maritime issue.

Aleksandër Çipa : Minister Hoxha, mainly on the issue of the maritime shelf between Greece and Albania, is in the most difficult position. This is the most difficult position for a former diplomat now in the capacity of the head of the country's official diplomacy.

Because, regardless of the language used and mainly the cover that is serving this cause, it is a long time cover, since 2009 when this started to be discussed as an issue. And practically both sides of politics in their governing rotations, have not only considered this issue an underground issue, but have kept it in a, let's say, I'm saying it in a very refined informational isolation.

And what is being said today, that we have already gone to court. That is, we cannot remove from our minds or even from our knowledge as published information, that excellent scan that the former ambassador, the late Shaban Murati, made.

And never in Albanian expertise can such a contribution be eclipsed, which is insurmountable. No matter how much the administration and diplomatic bureaucracy of both countries do, they cannot overcome it so easily. Although in my view, the alibi of the International Court is being used. Because it is not in the knowledge and in what I have the ability to read, a process that will go to the Hague Court. It is an interstate alibi that is being used for this case. And secondly, look, today they were used, before we started the show, I took a look at the Greek media, which are undoubtedly just as skeptical as we are. In fact, the burden of the Greek media is exceeding the burden of the Albanian media. I am talking about professional media, because now we cannot talk about the entire spectrum of online in both spaces, Albanian and Greek. But what impressed me was that the tones of the Greek media and Greek opinion-making and information were lower, because apparently they are expecting something that is still unknown to our side.

The aggressiveness has not decreased, but the platform on which our side has offered itself, in this specific case our official side I am saying, with a claim that has been absent in the history of more than 20 years in bilateral diplomatic communication. Which is that strategic partnership. Because we must raise a question that is not rhetorical. Where does the strategic partnership that we are offering change?
