Police Chief Skënder Hitaj continues restructuring at the police leadership levels
The Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hitaj, has made another change in the management structures. Hitaj has appointed Alban Dautaj as head of the Operational Directorate.
Dautaj comes to this position after previously holding the position of director of Anti-Terrorism, an important structure in the fight against security threats.
Meanwhile, Melsi Koçi has been removed from his position as Director of Operations, without the official reason for this change being made public.
We recall that a week ago Hitaj dismissed the head of the Tirana Road Police Station, Neritan Buzi, who was transferred to Puka. No further details have been publicly released on the reasons for this transfer or the new function he will hold in this city.
There have also been changes to the traffic structure in the capital. The traffic commander in Tirana, Joan Trungu, has also been transferred, being appointed head of the special force known as "Arrows" in Tirana.
The changes in the State Police come at a time when a review of leadership roles and strengthening of operational structures are expected, especially in Tirana.
It remains to be seen whether these changes will be followed by other appointments and what impact they will have on the functioning of police structures in the capital and in the districts.
