Holy Water Day is also celebrated in the city of Berat.
After the mass at the Cathedral of "Saint Demetrius", all the believers, led by Metropolitan Bishop Asti, headed towards the "Gorica Bridge", describing the city's pedestrian area with the baptismal song.
Eight young men braved the rain and cold by jumping into the Osum River. The cross was thrown by Metropolitan Asti, followed by hundreds of citizens who waited with curiosity to see who would receive it.
It was 15-year-old Fabio Naço (baptized name Niko Dhima) who for the first time jumped into the waters of the Osumi River to receive the cross. Then the Orthodox believers headed to the cathedral where, according to the ritual, they fill the vessels with water because according to them, this water is able to not spoil for a year. The day of the blessed water is the day of the baptism of Christ in the Jordan River.
