Former President Ilir Meta will be released today for a few hours from the cell where he is staying, to be sent to the premises of the Special Prosecutor's Office.
It is learned that Meta will appear at SPAK at 10:00. The former president will be questioned by special prosecutors regarding the "CEZ-DIA" file, for which he is accused.
Meta was arrested on October 21, 2024 in the former "Shqiponja" square and is in a cell under the security measure "Prison arrest" as he is accused of three criminal offenses such as corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets.
SPAK accuses Ilir Meta of having undertaken corrupt actions for the CEZ-DIA contract at the time when he was Minister of Energy during the "Berisha 2" government.
The former president reacted on social media from the interrogation cell on Tuesday, saying that he will be the one to question the investigators.
"I just learned from the regime media that tomorrow I, the leader of the Freedom Party, the second opposition force and the third political force in the country, have been summoned for questioning by the criminal organization SPAK, which signed my illegal kidnapping and bandit. Without a doubt, I will be there to interrogate them and after this session I am open to any questions from the media that will be present", writes Meta on Facebook.
In charge of Meta is the file known as CEZ-DIA, for the benefit of monetary values in exchange for the influence exercised in favor of a telecommunications company, for consulting and lobbying contracts in the United States of America, for the cleaning of products in the purchase of a house in Tirana as well as the non-declaration of medical expenses for the period 2013-2019.
MP Monika Kryemadhi, ex-wife of Ilir Meta, also has similar accusations. In relation to Kryemadhi, the GJKKO has imposed a mandatory security measure.
