Journalist and analyst Genc Burimi has made a bold proposal to stop electoral crimes in Albania.
While invited to the studio of the show 'Off the Record' on A2 CNN, Burimi said that Albania needs a criminal electoral reform. Burimi also proposed an Islamic law for elections, which he said would cut off the hand (politically) of anyone who used the state for power.
According to Burimi, such a law would provide that the ruling party that misused state resources for elections would have points deducted from the CEC.
"A criminal electoral reform needs to be implemented here, so that those in power no longer think of stealing votes. We need an electoral system that discourages any statesman who uses public finances. For example, take away 20 points in the election from those who steal votes, just like Juventus in the championship."
The goal today is for Albania to hold uncontested elections. This presupposes two things, first, a penalizing electoral code, because today it is not penalizing. The Albanian electoral code only provides for a fine of 5 million lek. This is radical.
An Islamic election law should be made. The hand of the one who uses the state for power should be cut off (politically). So this should be done so that they can take away points in the elections. So Rama should take away 20 points if it is proven that he filled the square with municipality employees ," Burimi said, among other things.
