Durrës has been under water since Tuesday morning. The rainfall, although not estimated to be in the amount that could cause flooding of almost the entire city, caught emergency and local structures unprepared.
Prime Minister Edi Rama on Wednesday evening published a video of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Albana Koçiu, and the Mayor of Durrës, Emiriana Sako, at the new Porto Romano hydroelectric dam.
"The two waterworks of the Municipality of Durrës are working at full capacity and interventions on the ground continue without interruption," Rama writes, while the city suffers from the presence of water and hundreds of families have been evacuated from their homes.
Rama announces that the process of assessing material damage has also begun, while emphasizing that all structures are on full alert and will continue working throughout the night to keep the situation under control.
