Significant areas have been flooded and the lives of residents are being threatened. Emergency authorities have carried out the immediate evacuation of residents. At least 20 families are reported to have been evacuated so far and the action is in progress.

The Mayor of Vlora, Brunilda Mersini, stated that the flows are at their highest point and that the next few hours will be crucial.

"The situation is currently at a critical point because the flows are at a level of 8.6 meters. In the coming hours we expect a decrease in the amount of water, given that the southern part that brings these flows has stabilized and this will be reflected in the 12-hour timeframe," said Mersini.

She added that other families in the danger zone have been identified, who may be evacuated if the water level rises further.

"In a risk zone, we have 6 families who, if this point of 8.6 meters is exceeded, will be evacuated. So far, there are 13 families that have been willing to leave the endangered area ," said the mayor.
