The leader of the "Albania Becomes" movement, Adriatik Lapaj, has spoken about political developments in the country and his protest several weeks ago in front of the Prime Minister's Office.
Lapaj revealed that he was offered a high-ranking government position by Prime Minister Edi Rama, an offer he says he rejected. According to him, on June 30 and during the second week of July, Prime Minister Rama twice made him an offer to join the government.
"I have been offered the position of Deputy Prime Minister and two ministries, one of them the Ministry of Agriculture. They cannot deny this, let him deny it ," he told "News 24".
Lapaj emphasized that the offer was presented as part of the thesis for the creation of a broad-based government, with the aim of accelerating European integration and creating, according to him, "democratic nuances", by including young people in politics and in governing structures.
However, the leader of "Albania Becomes" stated that accepting such an offer would constitute a betrayal of the ideals it represents.
"If I went there, I would betray my ideals. I would not be able to look my parents in the eye," Lapaj said, adding that such a decision would face personal and moral disappointment.
The head of "Albania Becomes" said that the real purpose of this offer was politically calculated.
"After six months we would have been thrown out. The goal was to burn us politically and throw us out," Lapaj declared, describing the offer as an attempt to neutralize his movement and weaken the new opposition.
